Everyone with a bank account, Sejko: The state will cover the costs
Since the beginning of May, the Bank of Albania, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, ANA, and the banking system have been cooperating closely with the aim of creating all possible alternatives for making remote payments through electronic means.
This is a development that, according to the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, will make possible small payments through the banking system as well as the inclusion in the system of anyone, starting from pensioners, students, and families in need.
Meanwhile, it will be the state that will mitigate the costs of opening bank accounts. Sejko mentioned as a success story the payment system in euros, through which 120 thousand payments were made, which saved Albanians about 10 million euros.
The Minister of Finance, Delina Ibrahimaj, said that they are working to use as little cash as possible in the economy and that every service in Albania is paid through the banking system.
The statements of the governor and the minister of finance were made during the 8th meeting of the National Payment System Committee.
