240 million euros more in the state budget/ 3-month period, record VAT revenue

The state budget has collected approximately 205.1 billion lek in the first three months of the year, about 24 billion lek, or 240 million euros more than January-March of last year.
Referring to official data from the Ministry of Finance, the growth is estimated at 13.3% more, while the realization compared to the plan is 105.8%.
Revenues collected from taxes (revenues from net VAT in the country, profit tax, personal income tax, national taxes) were realized in the amount of 77.7 billion lek, or 7.1 billion lek more than the first quarter of 2025. While the plan was exceeded by 2.2 billion lek.
Among tax revenues, the item with the highest increase is VAT collected (net), with 25.2 billion lek, 4.1 billion lek or 19.4% more than the first quarter of 2025, and 3.4 billion lek more than the plan. This item is directly related to consumption, but during this period, the increase in prices in the country seems to have significantly affected this performance, starting with fuel and then the food chain.
19.6 billion lek were collected from profit tax, 2.2 billion lek or 12.7% more than the same quarter of 2025.
Revenues from social and health contributions also had a positive performance, from which 48.3 billion lek were collected in the first 3 months, +4.6 billion lek or 10.5% more than a year ago.
From personal income tax, 21.8 billion lek were collected, 1 billion lek or 4.8% more than the same quarter of 2025, and from national taxes, 11.2 billion lek.
Customs revenues (revenues from VAT on imports, excise duties, customs duties and mineral royalties) were realized in the amount of 52.9 billion lek, or 83 million lek more than the first quarter of 2025 and 95.4% compared to the plan.
Revenues from VAT on imports were collected in the amount of 35.3 billion lek and 95.4% of the plan. Excise duties collected 14.9 billion lek, 2.5% more than the first quarter of 2025, or 96.6% compared to the plan.
Export royalties collected 357 million lek and customs duties 2.2 billion lek.
Total public spending, for the 3-month period of 2026, reached around 156 billion lek, with a realization of 92.9% of the plan for the period and 8.7 billion lek more compared to the 3-month period of 2025.
