Are tourist structures ready for tax controls? - Sinojmeri: They must be in sync

Tourist structures in the country are facing a new phase of controls by the tax administration. The Tax Directorate has presented a sectoral plan for detailed controls in the hotel sector, increasing pressure for the correct implementation of the law.

In this situation, businesses have begun preparations, but the question remains as to how ready they really are to face these controls without being punished?

"This year, tourism in Albania is more consolidated, thanks to this 8-9 year experience, where Albania is on the top tourist list in Europe, and the experience already gained with hotel units, with the hotel services that we offer, and all this enterprise that plays a major role in the country's economy, is one of the main generators of the Albanian economy," says Arben Sinojmeri, Director of the Association of Albanian Chefs and Cooks.

According to Sinojmer, dealing with tax controls requires a reformatting of the way tourism businesses operate. The focus is now not only on service, but also on rigorous compliance with the legal framework.

"I think that all administrators and Albanian tourism enterprises should be in sync and be supportive of reforms and synchronization between law and action. Time takes its course, things evolve and with them the management and administration of tourism businesses evolve. Because I am convinced that people are learning every day and will respond correctly to legal obligations. The state is doing its job, and businesses should understand that it is no longer the same as it was before. In this regard, even within the framework of associations and organizations that lead the tourism industry, they are doing their great and good work to raise awareness."

With a tourist season expected to be intense, hotel structures are facing an important test, not only to provide quality service, but also to respect fiscal rules. Formalization and compliance with the law seem to be the key to avoiding penalties and guaranteeing a sustainable development of the sector.
