The Transparency Board increases fuel prices, diesel goes to 197 lek/liter

The Transparency Board has published this Friday the new fuel prices in the domestic market, reflecting a slight increase compared to the previous day. The decision was made at the meeting held on May 9, 2026 and comes into effect today at 14:00.

According to the decision, the retail price of SSH EN 590 standard diesel will be no more than 197 lek per liter, while the wholesale price will be no more than 185 lek per liter.

Meanwhile, gasoline will be sold at retail at no more than 182 lek per liter and at wholesale at no more than 170 lek per liter.

The Board announced that these prices will remain in effect until the next meeting, where new changes in the international market will be reflected.

The authorities have drawn the attention of fuel trading operators to the mandatory implementation of this decision, while warning that in case of violations, the suspension of activity will be imposed.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, declare that they remain committed to protecting Albanian consumers and guaranteeing fair competition in the market.

The accompanying explanation of the decision states that, based on Normative Act No. 1, dated 3.4.2026 on excise duties, the excise duty level will continue to be applied in full, 100%, as current fuel prices remain below the limit set by the normative act.
