DIVA, over 40 thousand applications for reimbursement/ Binaj: Payments have started, a total of 77 thousand beneficiaries
Over 40 thousand applications have been made by employees in the country for reimbursement through DIVA2025, while the tax administration has started the process of payments to the bank accounts of over 34 thousand individuals. In an interview for SCAN TV, the Director General of Taxes, Ilir Binaj, stated that in total there are over 77 thousand beneficiaries, with a fund made available of 15 million euros.
" Regarding the DIVA refund, we received around 40 thousand requests, which began to be processed immediately during the months of April and May. Initially, we started processing those who were without risk, so about 3000, in the meantime we have moved on to processing requests from parents with two children, which are also called low-risk, which are over 34 thousand requests. Regarding these requests, the value to be refunded is estimated at around 5.5 million euros. The process continues. So, we expect to have other requests. From our calculations it turns out that there were around 77,000 taxpayers who resulted in a credit surplus after making the DIVA declaration. This is a process, we invite all taxpayers who have resulted in a credit surplus to make requests and within the legal deadlines, the tax administration will try to make the relevant refunds ", said Binaj.
Asked about the law on the forgiveness and cancellation of tax liabilities as well as fiscal peace, Binaj indicated that the goal is to formalize the economy and that this initiative brings significant benefits to businesses.
" For fiscal peace, we issued the instruction on May 15 and in the meantime we have notified taxpayers how the process will be carried out. Applications end on June 5. We are awaiting applications, the regional directorates are collecting these. Fiscal peace is a new concept, which requires a higher or better formalization of the Albanian economy. So, the taxpayer is offered to declare 18% more, with a rate of 15% and then above 18%, the rate drops to 5%.
Meanwhile, for the deletion part, the tax administration is working with all implementing bodies in the prosecution to obtain all lists related to the part of taxpayers who have criminal offenses or who are under investigation, as these should be removed from the list. So, within 20 days we are preparing this list in cooperation with the prosecution. The process has progressed, but not at the speed we would like. By June 10, the tax administration will then begin to invite taxpayers to start payments , "Binaj explained.
Entities will have until June 5 to apply for a fiscal peace agreement with the General Directorate of Taxes and until the end of the year to repay the obligations in installments according to the instructions of the law on the forgiveness and cancellation of tax obligations.
