Dairy industry facing EU standards - Report on 253 entities. Government, ready a support plan for the sector

Entities operating in the dairy industry must meet the standards required by the European Union in order to survive in the market after integration. The first National Dairy Industry Conference emphasized the need for investment in this direction.
"There is no integration without standards and at the end of integration, we must pass the class. The challenge of integration comes with the challenge of investment and without banking support we cannot achieve investments."
For the Ministry of Agriculture, consolidating the sector and raising standards is a priority.
"The dairy sector has economic and social potential, but requires further consolidation in a short period of time. The Ministry's priority is to consolidate the sector, increase standards and categorize entities, a process that is currently being carried out by the NFA. Categorizing will help each operator have an action plan and standards."
The Director of the National Food Authority, Blerina Gjylameti, announced that the first phase of categorization has currently been completed for 253 entities in this sector and by the end of the year a real picture of the sector will be created, based on which measures will be taken.
"Once we come to a conclusion, we will know what to do and perhaps draft a policy to support the sector. At the end of the year, the final report for 253 business operators will be released."
On the other hand, the Albanian Manufacturers Association has requested from the government to undertake a detailed national plan to inform businesses about the consequences if they do not meet European standards. The conference was attended by representatives of businesses in this industry, academia, the banking system, as well as government representatives.
