January-April, 81.2% of new vehicles are hybrid electric - DPSHTRR: Growing trend for green vehicles in the country

The General Directorate of Road Transport Services has published vehicle registration figures for the period January-April 2026, which shows an increasing trend of Electric Hybrid Plug-in vehicles with 0 kilometers in the Albanian market.
According to data from the DPSHTRR, Electric Hybrid Plug-in vehicles with 0 km make up 81.2% of the total number of new vehicles registered during the first quarter of 2026. This result shows an increasing orientation of citizens towards vehicles with advanced technology, with lower fuel consumption and a reduced impact on the environment.
According to figures published by the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, compared to the period January-April 2025, registrations of Electric Hybrid Plug-in vehicles have increased by 26.7%. This development is an indicator of the gradual transformation of the automotive market in Albania, where green vehicles are increasingly gaining ground.
This increase is related to several main factors, including higher awareness among citizens about environmental protection, as well as the reduction in the long-term costs of using these tools.
Meanwhile, the growing trend of registration of Electric Hybrid Plug-in vehicles is also seen as an important step towards modernizing the country's automobile fleet and approaching European standards for green transportation.
