From confiscation to solidarity/Lamallari: 150 thousand euros of criminal assets

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Besfort Lamallari, hosted a meeting with representatives of 21 civil society organizations, which have been declared winners of the call for project financing from the special fund created by the administration of assets seized and confiscated from crime. Together with the director of AAPSK, Risena Xhaja, Minister Lamallari said that the special fund is a clear instrument that shows that the state is not satisfied with sequestration and confiscation alone, but goes a step further.

"Confiscated assets are being returned to concrete social investments, in support of communities. This approach is not only a response to crime, but also prevention and rehabilitation. The 21 projects are focused on preventing crime among young people; reintegration of victims; support for the families of fallen employees and treatment of addictions and rehabilitation. This is a very significant moment, because today we are giving concrete meaning to a fair principle; that assets derived from crime should be returned to society as value and opportunities for those who need it most", said Lamallari.

The director of AAPSK said that next year another call will be opened for organizations that want to use confiscated assets.

Further during the meeting, the inter-institutional cooperation between AAPSK and the State Social Service was formalized, through the signing of an agreement between the director of AAPSK, Risena Xhaja, and the General Director of the State Social Service, Reme Xholi.

This cooperation aims to ensure that the funds address concrete social needs and increase the sustainability of this mechanism over time.
