Who will build the Milot–Balldren highway? - Sallillari is announced the winner of the competition for the strategic infrastructure project

The Salillari Group has been announced the winner of the procedure for the construction of the Milot-Balldren highway, one of the most important segments of the Adriatic-Ionian Corridor, undertaking the implementation of a strategic project for the country's road infrastructure.
Salillari is one of the largest construction companies in Albania and one of the most well-known names in the road infrastructure sector.
Its activity includes the construction of roads, bridges, tunnels, hydrotechnical works, airports, ports and other strategic infrastructure projects. Over the years, Salillari has participated in the implementation of some of the most important public investments in Albania.
"The procedure has not been easy because there have been previous attempts that have been unsuccessful. Despite dedication and professionalism, we have managed to announce a winner today that makes the construction of this work finally possible ," said the Minister of Infrastructure Enea Karakaçi in a media statement.
In fact, the history of the Milot–Balldren project stretches back years. A previous concession procedure launched in 2018 failed to be finalized due to problems with securing financing, causing the project to be restarted. For this reason, the Milot–Balldren highway has long been considered one of the most difficult projects to implement.
With the completion of the selection procedure, the project is now moving into the phase of signing the contract and preparing to start work. The Milot–Balldren segment has a length of about 17 kilometers and is considered the main link that will connect the Thumanë–Milot highway with the Balldren–Muriqan axis, completing an important part of the Blue Corridor.
The project envisages the construction of a highway with European standards, with two lanes, emergency lanes, bridges, underpasses and other works of art. In addition to improving movement in the north of the country, the segment will create a faster and safer connection to the regional and European transport network.
The highway is expected to significantly reduce travel times to Lezha, Shkodra and Montenegro, increase road safety and support the economic development of the area. According to government plans, Milot–Balldren is one of the key links for the completion of the Blue Corridor, a project that aims to transform Albania's road connections with the region and the European Union.
