The “Festivals and Creative Industry Pole” is taking shape in the city of Korça, a new project with a direct impact on the cultural, touristic and economic development of the region. Prime Minister Edi Rama was present at the construction site to see the progress of the works. Built on an area of 18 hectares, the complex aims to become a modern multifunctional center for organizing festivals, concerts and artistic activities throughout the year.
The project envisages the construction of spaces dedicated to large-scale events, with open and closed stages, capacities for thousands of participants, service areas, parking, as well as supporting infrastructure for tourism and the creative industry.
The head of the Albanian Development Fund, Dritan Agolli, said that, "where we are, practically the central area is the festival area, we are making a stage and an enclosed space which will have a capacity of 1,500 to 2,000 people seated inside. Meanwhile, the stage has a dual function. For the interior when it is closed and protected from atmospheric agents, but meanwhile it is also for the exterior this field here, everything will be arranged, it will be a white field for open festivals that holds up to 20,000 people, so to organize things of regional and international proportions".
The complex will also include areas for campers, dedicated nightlife venues, summer stages and recreational spaces, creating a new destination for cultural tourism and entertainment.
Meanwhile, the main infrastructure of the project is nearing completion, including the internal road network, sewage systems, lighting and electricity supply. The project will also serve as a practical space for young people and students of the creative industries, in order to connect education with professional practice.
Although still in the development phase, the space has begun to attract important cultural events, including the "MIK Festival" and artistic activities of the Opera, positioning Korça as a new center of culture and festivals in Albania.
