National register of regulated professions created/Recognition of qualifications, Albania aligns with the EU

Albania is preparing to reform the criteria for exercising regulated professions, as part of the European Union integration process. The Ministry of Economy and Innovation held consultations with institutions and stakeholders to improve the National Action Plan for Transparency and Proportionality of Professional Criteria.
The process, led by Deputy Minister Olta Manjani, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and with the support of the GIZ SANECA project, is related to the obligations of Chapter 3 of the negotiations with the European Union. The plan aims to ensure that the legal and administrative criteria for the exercise of professions are transparent, necessary and in line with European standards.
Among the main measures envisaged is the creation of a national register of regulated professions, the identification of responsible authorities, and the review of barriers that limit access to these professions.
The document also aims at alignment with the European Union schemes for the automatic recognition of professional qualifications, the digitalization of procedures and the preparation of Albania for integration with the European IMI system. Institutions and interest groups will present their comments during the month of June. After reflecting the suggestions, the document will be processed for approval, as one of the requirements for advancing negotiations and the functioning of the internal market according to European Union standards.
