Government subsidizes public transportation after fuel price hike

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy held a regular roundtable with representatives of Urban and Interurban Transport Associations, where the focus was on the situation created by the recent increase in fuel prices.
At this meeting, Minister Enea Karakaçi emphasized that the Albanian government will intervene by subsidizing public transport, with the aim of restoring the normality of this vital service for citizens.
Discussions focused on the difficulties the transport sector is facing as a result of rising costs, while emphasizing the importance of institutional support to guarantee the continuity and quality of service.
The authorities underlined that this measure aims to ease the burden on operators and avoid impact on citizens, while maintaining access to affordable public transport.
The Albanian government reiterated its commitment to closely cooperate with transport operators, with the aim of overcoming challenges and guaranteeing a sustainable service for all citizens.
