Albanian businesses increase efficiency/ 33.1% of enterprises use technology to reduce costs and consumption

According to Eurostat data in 2025, 30% of all businesses in the EU used information and communication technology (ICT) systems or solutions to reduce energy consumption or materials used (including consumables) or to increase the use of recycled materials.
But how does Albania fare in this indicator? According to statistics throughout 2025, 33.1% of businesses and enterprises in Albania have been helped by technology to reduce costs. In this regard, Albania ranks among the 10 European countries where technology seems to help by making businesses find deep support to make work easier in most things. These figures also match the level of digitalization.
Compared to the region, Albania performs significantly better. It leaves behind Serbia (20.16%), Montenegro (22.87%) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (23.26%), indicating a faster adoption of “green” technologies by local businesses.
However, Albania still does not reach the levels of European leaders. Countries such as Belgium (41.90%), Denmark (39.45%) and Malta (38.74%) top the rankings, reflecting more advanced investments in technology and strong policies.
Even in relation to its European Union neighbors such as Italy (34.16%) and Greece (24.25%), Albania remains competitive, even significantly surpassing Greece and coming very close to Italy. This positioning suggests that Albanian businesses are increasingly understanding the importance of technology in reducing costs and environmental impact. If this trend continues, Albania has real potential to climb higher in the European rankings and move closer to the leading countries in the transition towards a more sustainable economy.
