Nordics and Asians "discover" Albania/ Denmark and India, again with the strongest growth in April

April brought another increase in the number of foreign nationals entering Albania, but this time what stands out the most are not just the total figures, but the gradual change in the map of tourists choosing the country. According to INSTAT data, around 891 thousand foreign nationals entered during the month, with an increase of 8.8% compared to the same period last year.
Among the most interesting developments of the month was the very strong growth from Denmark, India and Lithuania. Arrivals from Denmark increased by over 265%, while Lithuania recorded almost the same rate of expansion. India also recorded an increase of over 120%, giving signals that Albania is gradually entering the radars of more distant tourist markets.
Along the same lines, there were also strong increases from Norway, Ireland, Ukraine, Latvia and Spain, while Poland almost doubled the number of arrivals. This shows that in addition to the region, the country is also gaining ground in Northern and Eastern Europe, markets that until a few years ago had a much more limited presence in Albanian tourism.
However, the main weight continues to be held by Kosovo and Italy. Kosovo remains the largest source of foreign arrivals to Albania, while Italy continues to be the most important market from Western Europe.
On the other hand, some countries recorded significant declines. Israel, which once had the highest growth, suffered the sharpest contraction, with over 85% fewer arrivals than a year earlier, while there were also declines from Germany, Turkey and Switzerland. These movements are increasingly reflecting the impact of geopolitical uncertainties and changing tourist preferences in the region.
April data shows that inbound tourism in Albania is no longer relying solely on traditional Balkan markets, but is gradually expanding towards countries that until now had a peripheral presence in tourist flows to the country.
