Albania signs memorandum with ENI on strategic oil and gas reserves

The Albanian government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Italian energy company ENI, with the aim of increasing energy security and creating national capacities for the reservation and storage of oil and gas.
Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on the "Flasim" podcast that the agreement aims to guarantee the strategic reserve of energy products, in conditions where international crises have shown the importance of security of supply.
According to him, the partnership with ENI foresees not only the creation of storage capacities, but also the establishment of a new operator in the Albanian energy and hydrocarbons market.
The operator aims to develop commercial activity in both the domestic and regional markets, relying on the experience and expertise of the Italian company.
"This partnership is not simply an agreement between the government and an international company, but it is a long-term investment," Rama declared.
The head of government said that the cooperation is expected to increase security of supply and bring technical knowledge and expertise in managing energy reserves.
ENI is one of the largest international companies operating in the oil, gas and energy sector. The agreement aims to strengthen Albania's capacities to cope with potential supply disruptions and global market fluctuations.
