Britain, trade agreement with Persian Gulf states - The country's economy is expected to benefit about 3.7 billion pounds

The UK has reached a trade deal with a group of six Gulf states that will be worth £3.7bn to its economy. The government said the deal with Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will remove around £580m of tariffs a year from British exports to the region once fully implemented.
It would also make it easier for British firms to expand and collaborate in the Gulf, which would support jobs. Campaign groups have criticised the lack of detail on human rights and labour protections in the deal.
British products to be exempt from tariffs include cheddar cheese, butter and chocolate. The trade deal between the UK and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is the third to be struck by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer's government, following those with India and South Korea. It is also the first between a G7 country and the GCC. The government has also struck trade deals with the US and the EU.
Starmer said the deal was a "huge victory" for British workers and businesses. "Working people will feel the benefits for years to come through higher wages and more opportunities," he stressed.
Trade Secretary Rachel Reeves said the deal was "proof that we are supporting British firms to compete and win globally. This deal is good for jobs, good for industry and ultimately good for consumers."
