Kosovo is expected to lose over 40 million euros from the Growth Plan - Of the unimplemented reforms, five are related to the implementation of laws

Kosovo is expected to lose over 40 million euros from the European Union's Growth Plan as a result of the failure to implement reforms.
Kosovo's chief negotiator with the EU, Jeton Zulfaj, said that six steps were not implemented by the additional deadline that expired on June 30.
From the Growth Plan for the period 2024-2027, worth 6 billion euros, Kosovo is entitled to about 882 million euros; 253 million as grants and 629 million euros in the form of loans.
The reforms that were not completed on time relate to a series of laws that should have been approved by the Assembly.
Of the six unimplemented reforms, five of them relate to the implementation of laws or 83 percent relate to the adoption of laws in the Assembly. The reform agenda contains 111 steps with sub-legal acts that include about 300 other sub-steps.
Kosovo currently has an executive branch in place, after the country held snap parliamentary elections on June 7, the results of which have not yet been certified. Last year, Kosovo held two elections, one in February that were regular, and another in December, after there was no consensus on the creation of institutions.
Only after the certification of the June 7 results will the path for the formation of new institutions be opened. In April, Kosovo benefited from the first part of the pre-financing funds, receiving 61.8 million euros, after the country submitted the necessary documents to the EC and ratified the agreements related to this plan. This EU plan, among other things, aims to double the economies of these countries over the next ten years.
