What will be the challenge for businesses in the EU? Bajraktari: The European

Membership in the European Union will open Albanian businesses access to a market with hundreds of millions of consumers, but will also place them in the face of higher demands for product quality, safety and traceability. But what will be the challenges for Albanian businesses in the European market?

"I think it's the standard, the competition is in the market. When you enter a supermarket, you see that you have products from all over Europe. So local products are currently competing with European products. But what I think is among the most important are the standards. They are the procedures, an Albanian business must know how to set standards, procedures, processes, know how to have a suitable environment because the European client will know everything," said Aneida Bajraktari, Business Consultant.

To enter and remain in the common market, Albanian businesses must document the entire production cycle, from the origin of the raw material and processing conditions, to transportation and delivery to the consumer.

"What changes for us, and what will be one of the biggest challenges, will be standards. A European customer will know everything about the product, the traceability chain, how it was transported, where this type of product was produced, how customer complaints about a product are handled, and I believe this is one of the biggest challenges, and it is not just about having a certificate. We need to have systems, processes so that the product has the same quality every time it goes to the consumer. A European customer will constantly have local products or services, if they decide to have a contract and an Albanian business. Businesses need to understand that it is not just a certificate that they want to get, ISO, or other certifications, but it is a mindset, the way they maintain the product, the machinery, etc.," explained Bajraktari.

Adapting to European standards requires investments in technology, qualified staff and internal control systems. For Albanian enterprises, certification will be only the first step, while the main challenge will be implementing the standards in daily practice and ensuring consistent quality.
