Farmers sell 261 million euros of products abroad - Salla: It is being produced with high quality, we have not had any problems
The agricultural season for the first half of this year has been good and so have exports. In an interview with SCAN TV, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, emphasized that Albanian farmers are producing higher quality and that so far nearly 261 million euros in exports of agricultural products to European markets and beyond have been recorded.
"With a very good production this year and I want to emphasize that our farmers and all farmers have done an excellent job with production, without problems. What does this mean? That they have produced a production without pesticide residues, it is a very good job that none of the loads that we have exported, sent to European Union countries, have had problems of this nature. We have grown by a small percentage, I wanted to say, but it is very significant, beyond the problems such as the floods, the production has been very good, but also with a value of 261 million euros so far, so I can say up to the first 5 months because of the value or the amount that has been exported that has an important role in the economy of farmers and the export that we carry out in agriculture."
Asked about the effectiveness of the National Agricultural Support Scheme for 2026, which has brought innovation, the Minister emphasized that it was designed according to the demands of farmers and that interest has been high.
"We closed the scheme on the 6th. We have set up working groups to verify all farmers. It is a value that has an interest because it is evident from the fact that over 70 million euros have been sent towards applications in the national scheme, which is a figure of considerable interest to farmers. So, they believe that they should benefit and are actually interested in this money going towards them. We, with the working group, will urgently carry out all legal procedures for those who have applied, if there are problems in the documentation or any other problem related to the agricultural sector or with the farmers themselves if there is a concern of this nature.
"In all the meetings I have held, in their hearings, we have reflected their suggestions, from the removal of oil, to the introduction of new schemes, such as for sows, such as for the part of lowering the threshold."
Among other things, the Minister emphasized that the National Scheme is only one of the elements of supporting the sector, while in parallel the Sovereign Guarantee is being implemented, and the IPARD program is expected to be launched soon.
