Malaj: Legal changes modernize the financial system and bring it closer to EU standards

The Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, stated that the Council of Ministers today approved amendments to the law "On Payment Services", the law "On the Payment System" and the law "On Banks in the Republic of Albania", which aim to modernize the financial system and align it with European Union legislation.
"The three proposed draft laws serve not only the further modernization of the financial system, but also the approximation with the relevant European Union directives," said Malaj after the Council of Ministers meeting.
According to the minister, the legal changes will bring concrete benefits to citizens and businesses.
"These changes bring concrete benefits to citizens and businesses alike, by reducing the costs of financial services, increasing the security and efficiency of the financial system, strengthening consumer protection, and fostering competition and innovation in the market," he said.
In conclusion, Malaj emphasized that "this package of draft laws will serve both for the development of the financial market and for the further transformation of the economy."
