Reaction to the protests, Rama from Brussels: We repeal the strategic investment
The Strategic Investment Law will be repealed, Prime Minister Rama said at the Intergovernmental Conference. In cooperation with the European Commission, a new law is being drafted, while he praised the well-formulated law on protected areas. However, the latter will undergo some changes to be fully in line with European standards.

"We need to repeal the strategic investment law because this law has fulfilled its mission and we are working closely with the Commission on what will repeal it. We need to treat the law based on all European standards and change everything that is not in accordance with European standards. Repeal means cancellation. The law on protected areas is one of the best laws we have, we have worked very hard. We need to treat specific parts that must be in full compliance with the EU, and for this we are working with the Commission. Repeal is not a word that we take as a word for being in compliance, it is 100% approval with the standards", said Rama.

Asked at the Intergovernmental Conference about the Zvërnec project and the debates it has sparked in the European Parliament, Prime Minister Rama said that the European Commission is aware of every development. He also assured that the project will be carried out according to the highest standards and will be a source of pride for the country and Europe.

"From the long years in office, when you say Brussels, it is a very complex word. For us, all voices are quite respectable, but there is one voice that we take very seriously, the voice of the Commission. The Commission is at the forefront of everything, being very well-informed based on facts. In this world of information and debatable views where the truth finds less and less space, the Commission remains in fact the one that firmly maintains objectivity because it works based on facts, data, verified sources. I am sure that you too, if you were interested in facts, data, verified sources, would understand that there is nothing to worry about. The project is still a work in progress. The project cannot be seen anywhere because it has not been finalized. The environmental impact assessment is in progress. Everything has been done according to the rules since day one. Mentioning names is not something that helps us get to the truth. For us, the rule book of membership standards and the EU Commission applies. The idea that Albania would move forward with something that would not be in full accordance with the holy book of atheist believers in Albania is a baseless claim. There is nothing to worry about. We will make a project that will be a source of pride for Albania and Europe. This is my ambition. Albania must make it a reality for itself and Europe. We will be rigorous in demanding nothing but the highest standards", said the Prime Minister.
