Tourism does not "slow down" even in autumn/ 31.7% more visitors, coastal areas most preferred

September of this year has marked a significant increase in visitors and overnight stays in accommodation structures in Albania, according to the latest data from the Institute of Statistics. Total visitors increased by 31.7% compared to the same period last year, an indicator that continues the growing trend of domestic and foreign tourism.
According to the data, the largest increase was recorded among non-resident visitors, who increased by 37.8%, while resident visitors recorded a more moderate increase of 15.1%. Overnight stays also had a positive performance, increasing by 19.6% in total. Foreign visitors stayed longer, marking an increase in overnight stays of 25.1%, while those from locals increased by 4.8%.
Coastal areas were the most popular among non-resident visitors, with an increase of about 44.1%, while hotels and similar accommodations recorded an increase of 32.1%, reflecting the high interest in seaside holidays even in September.
Regarding visits by region, the central region leads with around 161 thousand visitors, followed by the south with around 137 thousand, while the north welcomed around 106 thousand visitors. This distribution shows that the country's main tourist attractions continue to attract a high influx of visitors, especially in urban and coastal areas.
In September 2025, the majority of foreign visitors accommodated in Albania came from Kosovo (13%), Poland (11%) and Italy (10%). Germany and France contributed 9% and 8% respectively, while 49% of visitors were from other countries, indicating diversification of inbound tourism markets.
Another positive indicator is the hotel room occupancy rate, which reached 52.7%, compared to 40.4% in September 2024. This result signals increased demand for accommodation and reinforces Albania's position as an increasingly preferred destination in the region.
