The winner for the Milot–Balldren highway is announced - One of the largest road projects in the country is about to start
The winner of the competition for the construction of the Milot-Balldren road axis has been announced, bringing one of the most important infrastructure projects in Albania to the implementation phase. The news was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Enea Karakaçi in a public communication.
This decision comes after the completion of the evaluation process of the offers submitted in the competition conducted by the Albanian authorities. The procedure was closed in October with three offers in the competition and without any complaints, while in recent months the review of the technical and financial documentation of the participating operators has been carried out.
According to the decision, the winning company will undertake the construction, operation and maintenance of the road segment for a period of 35 years.
The Milot–Balldren axis is approximately 17 kilometers long and will be built as a category A motorway, replacing the current category C segment. The project starts at the Milot junction, where it connects to the Thumanë–Kashar–Lekaj axis and the Rrugë e Kombit, and ends in Balldren, in connection with the Tirana–Shkodër axis.
The segment is considered a strategic link of the Adriatic–Ionian Corridor and part of the expansion of the European TEN-T network in the Western Balkans.
