Tirana Bypass, tender ready for phase III - ARRSH: Works on the first two lots have reached about 20%

The Albanian Road Authority has prepared the procedure for the tendering of the third phase of the Tirana bypass, one of the most important infrastructure projects that aims to ease traffic in the capital. According to data published by the Public Procurement Agency, the limit fund for this contract is estimated at 2.5 billion lek.
According to the ARA, the procurement procedure is expected to open next month, after discussions with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy on the final elements that need clarification are completed.
Meanwhile, works have already started on the first two phases of the bypass. ARRSH reported that the physical completion of the works has reached about 18-20%, while excavation, scarification and filling are currently being carried out to form the road body. The construction of the two bridges foreseen in these lots, as well as the profiling of the slopes along the project route, also continues.
For the first and second phases, the value of the contracts is 5.9 billion lek and includes a length of about 8.2 km.
The Tirana bypass is expected to have a total length of 21.6 km and will connect the Tirana-Durrës highway with the Tirana-Elbasan highway, avoiding transit traffic through the capital. The route starts near the Thumanë – Kashar road and ends in Mullet, while the road will have two lanes for each direction of movement and a speed limit of up to 120 km/h.
