Government Decision: From July 1, 2026, pensions will be indexed by 2.7%, benefiting 900 thousand citizens
According to the decision, urban old-age pensions are increased by approximately 543 lek per month, if we take as a reference the average value of this category, which at the end of 2025 was 20,123 lek. Meanwhile, for rural pensions, the increase is 320 lek, since the average rural pension at the end of last year was 11,878 lek.
Pensions will be indexed by 2.7% from July 1. The decision was approved at a government meeting and provides for the amortization of increased costs for pensioners as a result of high inflation, especially this year.
According to the decision, urban old-age pensions are increased by approximately 543 lek per month, if we take as a reference the average value of this category, which at the end of 2025 was 20,123 lek. Meanwhile, for rural pensions, the increase is 320 lek, since the average rural pension at the end of last year was 11,878 lek.
Practically, with this indexation, the urban pension goes to 20,666 lek, and the rural one to 12,107 lek. The indexation of pensions for this year is 0.2% higher than in 2025, which was 2.5%. The indexation is considered compensation for increased prices. 900 thousand beneficiaries of pension indexation.
