The Transparency Board sets new fuel prices: Diesel 198 lek/liter. Gasoline 185 lek/liter

The Transparency Board published this Friday the next decision on fuel price ceilings in the country, which entered into force on May 15, 2026, at 1:00 PM.
According to the decision, the retail price for SSH EN 590 standard diesel has been set at no more than 198 lekë/liter, while the wholesale price has been set at no more than 186 lekë/liter. Meanwhile, for gasoline, the maximum retail price has been set at 185 lekë/liter and the wholesale price at 173 lekë/liter.
The authorities announce that these prices will remain in force until the next Board meeting, where new changes in the international market will be reflected.
The Transparency Board has drawn the attention of fuel trading operators to the obligation to implement this decision, warning that in case of violations, the suspension of activity will be applied.
The announcement also clarifies that, based on Normative Act No. 1, dated April 3, 2026, the reduced excise duty rate of 80% applies only when the price of diesel exceeds 220 lek/liter or gasoline 200 lek/liter. Given that current prices are below these limits, the excise duty will continue to be applied at the full 100% level.
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy declare that they remain committed to protecting consumers and ensuring fair competition in the fuel market.
