State budget, 340.5 billion lek in 5 months - VAT and personal income tax lead

During the first 5 months of this year, the state budget collected around 340.5 billion lek, with a realization of 105.3% of the plan for the period. Meanwhile, general public expenditures reached around 286.8 billion lek, with a realization of 96.8%.
Total revenues, compared to the same period a year ago, increased by about 34.3 billion lek or 11.2% more.
Revenues from VAT collected (net) were realized in the amount of 35.8 billion lek, 5.4 billion lek or 17.6% more than the five-month period of 2025, and with realization in the amount of 5.3 billion lek or 117.2% of the plan for the five-month period of 2026. Refunds granted for the period January - May 2026 amount to 6 billion lek.
Revenues collected from profit tax were realized in the amount of 26.6 billion lek or 86% of the plan for the five-month period of 2026. Revenues from personal income tax, for the period January-May 2026, are in the amount of 40.2 billion lek, 6.2 billion lek or 18.1% more than the five-month period of 2025, and 5.5 billion lek or 15.8% more than the plan for the five-month period of 2026.
Revenues from Special Funds, which include revenues from social and health insurance, collected by the Tax Administration, ISSH and FSDKSH for the period January-May 2026, were realized in the amount of 82.9 billion lek out of the 80.7 billion lek that were planned. So, 9.4 billion lek or 12.8% more than the five-month period of 2025 and with a realization of 102.7% of the plan for the five-month period of 2026.
Revenues from VAT on imports, for the period January-May 2026, are 64.2 billion lek and from excise duty at 26.3 billion lek.
Total public expenditures for the 5-month period of 2026 amounted to around 286.8 billion lek, with a realization of 96.8% of the plan for the period. Current expenditures amounted to around 260.9 billion lek, while capital expenditures amounted to 25.9 billion lek.
