Shijan-Delvinë road completed, supporting the local economy - Improving connections between communities and boosting tourism

The completion of the works on the 7 km long Shijan-Delvinë road segment is expected to bring economic development to the area and boost tourism. The Albanian Road and Transport Authority has also announced the completion of the connecting road to the village of Vergo, bringing this axis to all safety parameters. It significantly shortens travel time and increases road safety. Through this investment, the connection between communities is significantly improved, directly promoting the economic and tourist development of the entire area.
The intervention has significantly improved traffic, creating faster and safer access to Delvina and Saranda. The investment is expected to positively impact the economic and tourist development of the area, improving connections between communities and creating better conditions for residents and visitors.
This road segment starts at the roundabout of the village of Shijan and ends in the city of Delvina. The axis was rehabilitated with a cost of 288 million lek. With the completion of the works, the Kardhiq-Delvina road, one of the most important in the south of the country, is being put into full efficiency.
The overall objective of the project was to improve road transport infrastructure, meet the growing needs for transport services within the scope of rapid national and regional economic changes, and bring the entire Kardhiq-Delvinë road axis, as well as the connection with the cities of Saranda and Delvinë, to full efficiency, with the aim of shortening traffic movement times and creating safety and comfort for all road users.
The construction of the Kardhiq - Delvinë road is one of the projects of the transformational package for the development of infrastructure with an impact on the economy and tourism of the country. This road has been considered one of the most priority axes, which shortens the travel time from Tirana to Saranda to 3 hours, giving a further boost to tourism.
