Best practices for the administration of illegal assets, AAPSK cooperates with Italy

In the framework of strengthening international cooperation and the exchange of best practices in the administration of seized and confiscated assets, the Agency for the Administration of Seized and Confiscated Assets (AAPSK) held an official meeting at the offices of the Italian counterparts of the National Agency for the Administration and Destination of Assets Seized and Confiscated from Organized Crime (ANBSC), in Italy.
During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening institutional cooperation and agreed to initiate procedures for a cooperation agreement between the two institutions, which will focus on the exchange of information, sharing of experiences and increasing professional capacities, in accordance with European Union and international standards and best practices in the field of administration of seized and confiscated assets.
The Chief Administrator of AAPSK, Risena Xhaja, praised the Italian model and ANBSC's many years of experience in the fight against organized crime, as well as in the effective management of illegal assets.
On the other hand, the Director of ANBSC, Maria Rosaria Lagana, emphasized that deepening cooperation between the two institutions is in the common interest of Albania and Italy, given the cross-border nature of criminal activities and the geographical proximity between the two countries.
The focus of the discussions was also the organization of joint workshops between institutions, with the aim of exchanging professional experiences, increasing technical capacities and improving performance.
AAPSK assesses that international cooperation and the sharing of best practices remain essential elements for strengthening the mechanisms for the administration of seized and confiscated assets, as well as for increasing the effectiveness in the fight against organized crime.
