Tirana selected to host EBRD Annual Assembly in 2028

Tirana will be the host city of the Annual Meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in 2028, becoming the center of economic and financial discussions in the region and beyond.
The news was confirmed by Deputy Minister of Finance, Endrit Yzeiraj, at the conclusion of the EBRD Annual Assembly held in Riga, where it was decided that the 2028 edition will be held in the Albanian capital.
According to Yzeiraj, the selection of Tirana to organize this prestigious event is an indicator of the trust that international financial institutions have in Albania and its economic progress over recent years.
The EBRD Annual Meeting brings together senior government leaders, international financial institutions, investors, business representatives and development partners from dozens of countries every year, transforming the host city into a reference point for discussions on the economy, investments and sustainable development.
The EBRD remains one of Albania's most important financial partners. Since the start of its activities in the country in 1991, the bank has financed projects with a total value of around 2.5 billion euros, mainly focused on the infrastructure, energy, finance and private enterprise development sectors.
Among the strategic projects where the EBRD has a key role is the modernization of the Albanian railway network, an investment that aims to improve transport connections and the country's integration with European corridors.
Likewise, a significant portion of EBRD investments in Albania has focused on the private sector, helping local businesses increase productivity, competitiveness, and adapt to European Union standards.
Hosting the EBRD Annual Meeting in Tirana in 2028 is expected to bring increased international attention to Albania, promoting the country as an attractive destination for investment, economic development and regional cooperation.
