Resorts and tourist structures under the scrutiny of the Labor Inspectorate - Muçaj: Tourism a priority, controls increased in July and August
The tourist season has also put the structures of the State Labor Inspectorate into motion. With a special order, signed by Chief Inspector Eljo Muçaj, inspections in entities with increased seasonal activity are taking place from June 23 and will last until September 30, 2026. The focus is on the implementation of labor legislation, the formalization of labor relations and the respect of occupational health and safety conditions.
"The assessment of labor relations in the tourism sector is a priority of the Labor Inspectorate, for this reason we have drafted a concrete plan of measures which has several important points and we have started with the inspection mainly of large structures, and they are placed in our inspection plans, where this sector has about 70% of the inspections during the period May and September, they are mainly the entities operating in this sector. And in May and June, labor relations in resorts and the largest tourist structures were mainly inspected and assessed."
According to the chief inspector, inspections have now also focused on accommodation structures smaller than resorts.
"During July and August, specialized groups from both the region and the center will be present on the ground to inspect those structures that are more seasonal. We estimate that there is an improvement in labor relations or conditions related to decent work in these structures, this comes both with the maturity that this sector has but also with the need for qualified staff, so this combined with the work that the authorities have done, has helped improve working conditions or the assessment of the parameters that a decent job should have in every sector."
All inspections carried out under this order will be recorded in the MIRA electronic system, under the category "Tourism 2026", to enable monitoring, reporting and analysis of results throughout the tourist season.
