Pension scheme, over 31 thousand contributors added - Private sector "maintains" the budget. The number of pensioners increases significantly

Over 31 thousand contributors were added to the social security scheme during the past year, also bringing a significant increase in income.
Referring to official data from the Social Security Institute, from 805,416 contributors in 2024, the figure has reached 836,910 in 2025, with an addition of 31,494 contributors.
Specifically, the private sector holds the main weight in the scheme, with around 559,457 contributors, which has also increased by 16,648 more individuals in the scheme during 2025. In addition to the performance of the labor market, this increase is also attributed to the anti-informality reform undertaken by the government. On the other hand, 167,565 contributors are from public institutions, with an increase of only 755 contributors.
While a significant increase has been noted in terms of contributions in agriculture, where the number of farmers paying social security reaches 101,088 farmers, from 88,866 in 2024, or 12,222 more, who have self-declared and will also be pension beneficiaries in the future. On the other hand, voluntary contributors have also increased, reaching a total of 8,801 from 6,931 in 2024.
If we were to count both state contributors and those with short-term benefits, the total number in the scheme reaches around 871 thousand.
On the other hand, the number of beneficiaries from the scheme has also increased in parallel, causing the total number of pensioners in 2025 to be registered at 754,981, which includes old-age, disability and family pensions, with an additional 33,582 beneficiaries.
Total revenues from the social security scheme for 2025 result in 185.5 billion lek, an increase of 18 billion lek compared to the previous year.
