High temperatures increase the risk of fires - Civil emergencies, firefighters

High temperatures have significantly increased the risk of fires in the country, while civil emergency structures have been placed on standby to deal with possible outbreaks over the coming days.

According to data from the National Civil Protection Agency, from June 22 to now, around 160 fires have been recorded across the country.

Most of them have involved areas with vegetation, shrubs, forests, urban waste and areas near settlements, while 33 cases have been classified as urban fires. Recently, 3 fires have been reported in the Porto Palermo area, but the intervention of firefighters, civil emergencies, police and the forest service has brought the flames under control and then completely extinguished them.

The Director of the Fire Service, Arben Cara, presented the plan of measures taken to the Technical Advisory Committee.

Meanwhile, the head of the National Emergency Center also presented the plan of measures taken by health institutions regarding the fire situation.

In the coming days, temperatures are expected to remain high, with maximums in some areas of the country reaching up to 35 or 36 degrees Celsius.

In addition to the risk of fires, high temperatures also pose a health concern for citizens, especially the elderly, children and people with chronic conditions. Doctors advise avoiding sun exposure during peak hours, drinking water and limiting physical activities in open spaces.
