EU membership, how far has Albania advanced? - Integration Council meets/ Dhuka: We have achieved 101 closing milestones

Albania is advancing in fulfilling the tasks set by the European Commission within the framework of the integration process.
At the next meeting of the National Council for European Integration, Chief Negotiator Majlinda Dhuka stated that after the opening of accession negotiations, Albania has entered a new, more advanced and demanding phase of the integration process. According to her, this phase comes with new challenges for the Albanian economy and businesses.
"This phase comes with opportunities for Albanian businesses and the opportunity to do business according to EU standards, therefore it will require investments and adaptation to standards, so that we become part of trade, the economy."
According to Dhuka, the next challenge for Albania is not only opening the negotiation chapters, but also closing them with dignity. The chief negotiator noted how far the country has advanced in fulfilling its tasks.
"Albania has received 101 closing milestones. We are currently working intensively to close 10 chapters covering 27 milestones. We are advancing with chapter 20, industrial policy, legislation for industry, chapter 5, public procurement."
According to her, European integration is a joint national project, aiming to include Albania in European trade, economy and investments, as well as guaranteeing rights, freedoms and social protection for Albanian citizens on the same basis as European citizens.
