The Transparency Board reduces fuel prices again, oil drops to 193 lek/liter

The Transparency Board has once again decided to reduce fuel prices in the domestic market. At the meeting held on May 8, 2026, new ceiling prices for the retail and wholesale sale of diesel and gasoline were approved, which will come into effect today at 1:30 p.m.

According to the decision, the retail price of SSH EN 590 standard diesel will be no more than 193 lek per liter, while the wholesale price will be no more than 181 lek per liter. Meanwhile, gasoline will be sold at retail at no more than 179 lek per liter and at wholesale at no more than 167 lek per liter.

The new prices will remain in effect until the next Board meeting, where further market changes will be reflected.

The Transparency Board has warned oil by-product trading operators about the mandatory implementation of this decision, emphasizing that in case of violations, measures will be taken up to the suspension of the activity.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, declares that it remains committed to protecting consumers and ensuring fair competition in the market.

The accompanying explanation of the decision states that, based on Normative Act No. 1, dated 3.4.2026 on excise duties, the excise duty level will continue to be applied in full, 100%, as current fuel prices remain below the limit set by the normative act.
