Solar energy increased by 50% - 4-month period/ Photovoltaics provided 6.7% of the energy produced in the country

Energy produced by photovoltaic plants increased significantly during the first 4 months of this year, reaching the highest level recorded so far for this period.
According to data from the Energy Regulatory Authority, photovoltaic plants produced a total of 294,294 mWh of energy during the period January-April, or 6.68% of domestic production, which totaled 4,404,981 mWh. Compared to the same period a year ago, production from solar power plants has increased by about 51%, given that in the same period last year 194,458 mWh of energy was generated.
However, the share of solar energy in national production remains almost at the same levels as a year ago. This is due to the fact that during this period, the total domestic electricity production has also increased, supported mainly by the production of the Drini cascade, as well as private and concessionary hydropower plants.
Meanwhile, the contribution of solar energy to the electricity system is expected to continue to expand, as a number of new projects have advanced with procedures for obtaining permits and constructing plants.
The interest of private investors in the photovoltaic sector remains high, while applications for new projects continue to be filed with the responsible institutions, confirming that solar energy remains one of the fastest growing segments in the domestic energy market.
