Business Forum – Customs, American Chamber mediates entrepreneurship dialogue with institutions

The General Directorate of Customs, in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce, today held the Business-Customs Forum, a sustainable dialogue platform between the customs administration and the business community to address current issues and strengthen cooperation.
The Director General of the Customs Directorate, Besmir Beja, presented the strategic vision of the Customs Administration in the function of European integration, emphasizing the importance of the full approximation of customs legislation with the “acquis communautaire” and the advancement of the digital transformation of services. He underlined that the modernization of information technology systems and the interaction with the European Union systems are the main pillars for a more efficient administration, based on data and risk management.
The Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce, Neritan Mullaj, praised the structured dialogue with the Customs Administration and emphasized the importance of this forum as a practical instrument for addressing issues that affect business activity. He underlined the need for continuity in communication and further improvement of procedures, in order to create a more stable and competitive investment climate.
The Chair of AmCham's Tax and Customs Committee, Alketa Uruçi, presented the main issues addressed during 2026, emphasizing the importance of addressing them in a structured and sustainable manner to guarantee stability for business.
Representatives of the business community appreciated the work of the Customs Administration in terms of digitalizing services, reducing procedure times, increasing transparency and improving institutional communication, considering this cooperation as an important factor in facilitating trade and increasing economic predictability.
During the discussions, progress in the implementation of the EU Common Transit System (NCTS) was also addressed, which represents an important step towards modernizing transit procedures, increasing transparency and facilitating trade.
The Customs Administration invited AmCHam member businesses to apply for Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status, as an instrument that increases credibility, offers customs facilitation and creates concrete advantages for economic operators in international trade.
