Indexation and bonuses, around 170 million euros in 2026/ Objective, 400 euros average pension and 220 euros partial pension
The summer bonus of 5,000 new leks for all pensioners has been distributed since July 1. Meanwhile, it is expected that the bonus dedicated to the end-of-year holidays will also be distributed in December.
In parallel with the bonuses, pensions will undergo an indexation of 2.7%, which is based on the calculation of the basket for the last 12 months.
This measure aims to directly compensate for the loss of purchasing power of pensioners due to price increases. The government has set a target for pension policy, aiming for the average pension for citizens with full working years to reach 400 euros by the end of the mandate, in 2029.
It is also intended that the average pension for those with partial years of insurance will reach 220 euros. The fund for monthly bonuses during 2026 will reach 10.4 billion lek. The summer bonus of 5 thousand lek will be received by over 777 thousand pensioners and beneficiaries of special schemes, with a fund of 3.9 billion lek.
According to government calculations, together with the effect of pension indexation and bonuses, additional support for pensioners during 2026 amounts to around 170 million euros.
