"Urban Renaissance 2.0" presented, 11 strategic objectives - Prime

Prime Minister Edi Rama has presented the new national program "Urban Renaissance 2.0", which provides for a fund of 1.5 billion euros for the continued transformation of cities and public spaces in Albania.

Rama emphasized that this program does not represent only the continuation of the first initiative of the Urban Renaissance, but a new phase of development that comes in response to the increase in citizens' expectations. The improvement of living conditions has made the shortcomings more visible and less acceptable. He stated that this is not related to the citizens' ingratitude, but to the demand for higher standards.

"The "Urban Renaissance 2.0" program places at the disposal of this breakthrough a target of 1.5 billion euros. What I thought it was important to share with you today is related not simply to the difference between this new program and the first urban renaissance program, but to the reasons that led us to this program. The more conditions improve, the more what is missing becomes obvious as unacceptable," said Rama.

The Prime Minister stated that "Urban Renaissance 2.0" will be one of the main instruments to cope with this new phase of development, adding that the first program has fulfilled its function and that the goal is now to move to another level of urban transformation throughout the country.

"This is not ingratitude, but an expectation for other standards. The program is one of the instruments that addresses this new phase, starting from the presumption that the urban renaissance that we know has fulfilled its function, now we must move beyond it," said Rama.

The Minister of Local Government, Ervin Demo, presented some of the projects that are expected to be implemented in the territory. Within the framework of the new support package, the aim is to create 70 municipal museums, focused on local traditions and identity. Demo also announced that another priority will be to solve the problem of parking in cities, for which an investment of 120 million euros is foreseen.

"With this package and this financial support, this package will create 70 municipal museums, which will focus on local traditions. We are also working to solve the parking issue. 120 million euros will be spent to solve this issue," Demo declared.
