Agricultural production reaches 9.7 million tons - 2025/ Vegetables grow more, cereals, fruits and olives less

Albanian farmers produced around 9.7 million tons of agricultural products in 2025. According to official data from the Institute of Statistics, vegetables continue to lead production, also driven by export demand, recording a production of around 1.4 million tons, an increase of 1.5% compared to the previous year. Fier, Tirana and Berat are the regions with the highest production with around 62%.
Greenhouse production represents 22.1% of total vegetables, but with a decrease from the previous year of 0.9%. Fier County (with 155,905 tons), contributes with 48.7% and Berat (with 97,648 tons) with 30.5% of this production. Dibër and Lezha counties show an increasing trend compared to the previous year, with 16.3% and 5.1% respectively.
Cereals also account for a significant share of domestic production. Specifically, during 2025, cereals reached around 624 thousand tons, with the highest production level in Fier County with 144 thousand tons, followed by Elbasan and Korça.
Cereal production has decreased significantly compared to the previous year by approximately 25.9 thousand tons, while the lowest figure since 2020 is recorded.
In this category, wheat production decreased by 10.1%, millet also decreased, while barley increased by 13.6%, reaching 27 thousand tons.
Medicinal plants increased by 9.6%, while potato production decreased by 7.2%.
As for the production of fruit trees, in 2025 it was 253.4 thousand tons, suffering a decrease of 12.8%. The highest level of production is in Korça Region as the main contributor (66,178 tons), followed by Elbasan and Fier.
Olive production during 2025 reached 143.3 thousand tons, a decrease of 2.3%, compared to 2024. The regions of Fier, Elbasan, Berat and Vlora represent 83.2% of the total olive production in the country, remaining the main olive cultivation areas in Albania.
The total production of citrus fruits in the country is 59.4 thousand tons, with the Vlora Region being the main contributor, with 60.9%, of the total production in the country.
