With a fund limit of 1 billion lek, the Albanian Development Fund has opened the tender for the implementation of interventions aimed at improving the safety, sustainability and functionality of the road network in the country.

The project envisages a wide package of interventions in the road infrastructure, including the rehabilitation of damaged segments, stabilization of the road body and slopes, improvement of drainage systems, rehabilitation of works of art, and the installation of road safety elements.

According to the technical report, the interventions aim to increase traffic safety, improve travel quality, reduce travel time, and extend the life of the road infrastructure. The project will be implemented throughout the country, based on the needs identified by local self-government units and the priorities set by the contracting authority.

The technical documentation foresees interventions in several main categories, including landslide stabilization and slope protection, construction and rehabilitation of manholes and drainage channels, reconstruction of road layers, rehabilitation of bridges and other works of art, as well as improvement of signage and protective barriers.

The ADF also foresees that a portion of the fund will be dedicated specifically to safety at construction sites, in accordance with legal requirements for the protection of employees during the implementation of works.
