Reconstruction of the electricity network in Berat - OSSH opens the competition, aiming for energy performance and modernization of the network

The Regional Directorate of OSSH Berat has announced the procurement procedure for the construction of the new Feeder no. 12/20 kV at the Plasmas 110/20 kV Substation, as well as for the reconstruction of the electrical cabins and the low voltage network. The limit fund of this investment is 199 million and 839 thousand lekë.
According to the documentation published by the Public Procurement Agency, the project aims to improve the supply of electricity, guaranteeing a higher quality, uninterrupted and safer service.
Referring to the technical report, the area is currently supplied by Feeder no. 9/6 kV of the Plasma Substation, a line built decades ago, which extends over a wide territory and supplies the villages of Kashtëbardhë, Qerret i Ri, Qerret i Vjetër, Biçakaj, Kadiaj, Jeta e Re, Kosovë e Vogël, Barbullinjë, Sejmenas, Koçaj, Fiershegan, Thanë, Cukas, Çinar and other areas.
According to the analysis of the OSSH, the current network presents poor performance due to depreciation of lines and equipment. Electricity losses in this feeder reach about 25%, while during the year dozens of supply interruptions have been recorded. The document emphasizes that the low voltage network was built mainly in the 70s and many equipment is outside technical standards.
The problematic situation is also observed in the transformation cabins, where damage to the masonry, lack of waterproofing, depreciation of switching and protective equipment, as well as defects in the low-voltage panels have been identified.
According to the technical report, in addition to energy losses and poor supply quality, the current network also poses a risk to the safety of residents, as the lines pass near or over homes and create opportunities for illegal interference in the network. The document also emphasizes that the demand for electricity in this area has increased significantly in recent years. For this reason, the construction of a new 20 kV feeder is planned, which will relieve the load on the current 6 kV line and will enable the transition of most of the cabins to the 20 kV level. The project also provides for the complete reconstruction of the low-voltage network, the replacement of depreciated equipment and the improvement of supply parameters.
This project aims to reduce technical losses, reduce outages, improve voltage levels, increase network security and guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply for families and businesses in the area. The investment is part of the OSSH strategy to modernize the distribution network and reduce technical losses.
