Who are the tourists choosing Albania? From Italy to Britain. Visits to accommodation facilities increased by 19.7% during April

Tourism in Albania continued its positive trend in April, according to the latest data from the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT). The number of visitors accommodated in the country's tourist structures marked an increase of 19.7% compared to the same month last year.
The increase was driven by both resident visitors and foreign tourists. According to INSTAT, the number of resident visitors increased by 12.9%, while non-resident visitors, i.e. tourists from abroad, recorded a more significant increase of 22.6%.
Overnight stays in accommodation facilities have also registered an increase, increasing by 5.6% compared to April of last year. In this indicator, overnight stays of resident visitors increased by 3.9%, while those of foreign tourists by 6.3%, indicating a longer stay of visitors in the country.
In terms of geographical distribution, the central region was the most visited during April, with around 130 thousand people accommodated. The northern region is ranked next, while the southern region had the lowest number of visitors. Another important element is that the focus of travelers has been more towards non-coastal areas, indicating an expansion of interest in urban and natural destinations outside the beach line.
Regarding the origin of foreign tourists, the majority of visitors come from Italy, which accounts for about 23% of the total. Kosovo ranks next with 13%, while the United Kingdom accounts for 8% of visitors. Germany and France also have a significant share with 8% and 6% respectively, while 42% of tourists come from other countries of the world.
Meanwhile, the hotel room occupancy rate during April reached 22.4%, remaining at the same level as April 2025. The data shows that Albania continues to consolidate as a tourist destination not only during the summer season, but also in off-peak months, with an increase in interest from international tourists.
